The second Mongoose Brawler 24 Cruiser rebuild, the first was a 2000 Brawler 24. This bike is a 2002 Mongoose Brawler 24 Cruiser and it too was completely rebuilt and transformed with an old school look. The frame and fork on the Mongoose Brawler 24's are made from 4130 Chromoly steel for strength and durability, these are tough cruisers, built to last. This one is set to out live a few more riders yet.
This bike was stripped and every part cleaned. The frame, forks, handlebars and seat post were given a new coat of white paint.
The original head clamp was de-anodised given a brushed alloy look. The original hubs and black Alex rims front and back were re-laced with new stainless steel spokes and the bike was given a new set of blue Duro 24x1.75 gum walls.
Other new parts installed on the 2002 Mongoose Brawler 24 included a new chrome KMC chain, blue Ame grips, a repop blue MX style seat and a complete set of blue Odyssey upper and lower Gyro brake cables. The lower cables on the Brawler 24 are two Odyssey Slick cables as these bikes don't take a regular two into one gyro cable. The front and rear brake levers and callipers were refurbished and rebuilt.
The cranks were stripped, sanded and polished. The Mongoose logo was inlaid with blue paint and then the cranks were sealed with a clear coat. The chainwheel was sanded and sprayed candy blue to match. The pedals were refurbished in black and the Mongoose logo sanded back to stand out. The 2002 Mongoose Brawler 24 wash finished off with my custom made, old school style black and chrome decal set.
